Product Description
In this raucous collection of true-life stories, actress and comedian Chelsea Handler recounts her time spent in the social trenches with that wild, strange, irresistible, and often gratifying beast: the one-night stand.
You've either done it or know someone who has: the one-night stand, the familiar outcome of a night spent at a bar, sometimes the sole payoff for your friend's irritating wedding, or the only relief from a disastrous vacation. Often embarrassing and uncomfortable, occasionally outlandish, but most times just a necessary and irresistible evil, the one-night stand is a social rite as old as sex itself and as common as a bar stool.
Enter Chelsea Handler. Gorgeous, sharp, and anything but shy, Chelsea loves men and lots of them. My Horizontal Life chronicles her romp through the different bedrooms of a variety of suitors, a no-holds-barred account of what can happen between a man and a sometimes very intoxicated, outgoing woman during one night of passion. From her short fling with a Vegas stripper to her even shorter dalliance with a well-endowed little person, from her uncomfortable tryst with a cruise ship performer to her misguided rebound with a man who likes to play leather dress-up, Chelsea recalls the highs and lows of her one-night stands with hilarious honesty. Encouraged by her motley collection of friends (aka: her partners in crime) but challenged by her family members (who at times find themselves a surprise part of the encounter), Chelsea hits bottom and bounces back, unafraid to share the gritty details. My Horizontal Life is one guilty pleasure you won't be ashamed to talk about in the morning.

Disappointed... May 16, 2008 I TIVOd "Chelsea Lately" every single night and suckered my mother and unsuspecting friends into it, munching Pop Secret and cackling loudly at her antics and harsh critiques of dumb people. The beauty of a DVR is you can rewind and watch again and point and laugh, again. But sadly I am in Afghanistan and can't watch her show 'til I'm back, so when I was trolling around Amazon and discovered she'd written a couple of books, I rubbed my hands greedily and hit "order now."
I finished this collection of romps this morning...it took no time to read; maybe like 2 hours total, and what is there to say? I laughed out loud exactly three times and even those "LOL" moments were so unremarkable, I can't remember them even now, 3 hours later. In the age of where women can do a heckova lot more than we could, say, 50 years ago, Chelsea either has a really hard time translating her humor into black and white, or she has excellent writers on her E! show. I gave her 3 stars because normally, she is my hero, and because I was able to read the book as she talks, making it by default a bit more entertaining. For her credit, this book was published three years ago. I am certainly no prude, but I was shocked by the immaturity level. I realize this is a book about one-night-stands, but some of the things she does and says actually made me a bit sick to my stomach. Some people may enjoy the shock factor, and normally I do as well, but there was absolutely nothing remarkable about these adventures of hers, other than to paint a picture of a very spoiled person. I'm sad.
So funny I can't put it down!! May 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this book yesterday and haven't put it down since. Chelsea's recap of her hilarious run in's with random guys is great. I've even taken the book to work with me to hide and read it because I couldn't wait till i came home to finish it. Its an easy read and will make you laugh out loud I highly recommend it to any Chelsea Handler fan or even if your a fan of Sex and the City. I can't wait to get her second book!
WAY TOO FUNNY May 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this with her second book, Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea". I read them both and couldnt put them down or stop laughing. I completely recommend for someone to buy both books and read them back to back!

It was mildly amusing. Not as funny as Chelsea Handler is on her E! show.
